Dear FAEP Upper Grades Families,
Welcome back, and greetings to our new FA families! I look forward to this being a year that is both challenging and inspirational for our students. In this, our first week back we have been very busy - getting to know one another, learning about our classroom environments, and refreshing and tapping into our prior mathematics knowledge. Feel free to ask your students what they learned this week about having a fixed mindset vs. a growth mindset. You may also ask them to share their thoughts about non-routine problem solving and possible strategies they could use to solve problems; not only problems they will be confronted with in math, but across any domain. While you are out and about with your children, take a moment to help them look for the elements of math in both natural and man-made elements of our world. Let's have a great year - live and love being in the moment!
